RABAT – The Basma Foundation for Social Development successfullyconcluded its 6th General Assembly on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at itsheadquarters in Rabat. The gathering resulted in a renewed vote of confidence for Mr. Moustapha Ferjani, who was re-elected as President of the Foundationfor a second term.
In a significant move toward institutional modernization, the assembly alsoelected Mr. Nour Eddine Bensbih as the President of the Administrative Board for the new mandate (2026–2030).
A New Era of Governance and Oversight
A focal point of the General Assembly was the discussion and approval of amendments to the Foundation’s statutes. Aimed at enhancing good governanceand restructuring the organization, these amendments formally separatemanagement duties from oversight functions.
Under the approved changes, the Administrative Board is now recognized as an independent body distinct from the Executive Bureau. Its primary mandate isgovernance and internal control, acting as a “safety valve” to ensuretransparency and the strict application of the Foundation’s internal regulations.
Leadership and Accountability
In addition to the presidency, the assembly elected a new Executive Bureau. The new team includes the President, a First and Second Vice-President, a Treasurer, a General Secretary, and several advisors.
The session also featured a comprehensive presentation of the literary (activity) and financial reports for the concluding term. The Executive Bureau detailed the programs implemented over the past four years, alongside the financial status, funding sources, and expenditures. Following a robust and responsible debate, the General Assembly unanimously approved both reports. Members commended the efforts made and the results achieved, noting that thesesuccesses form a solid foundation for a new phase defined by institutionaldevelopment.
Commitment to Social Responsibility
Speaking following his re-election, President Moustapha Ferjani emphasizedthe weight of the task ahead.
“The Foundation, across all its cadres and bodies, is fully aware of the magnitude of the responsibility placed upon its shoulders,” Ferjani stated. “Weremain fully committed to meeting the expectations of the vulnerable groups targeted by our programs and projects.”
