Basma Foundation’s Ramadan 2026 Milestone: A Dual Humanitarian Response Reaching 57,000 Beneficiaries

The Basma Foundation for Social Development has concluded its Ramadan projects for the year 1447 AH / 2026, marking a qualitative leap in field operations. This year’s efforts successfully integrated emergency relief for flood victims with seasonal support for underprivileged families. Spanning various provinces across the Kingdom, these operations have brought the cumulative impact of the “Sanad” and “Mawasim” programs to over 57,000 beneficiaries since their launch in 2016.  Sanad Program: Field Results from Shaban to the End of Ramadan  Since the launch of the “Like One Body” campaign on February 4th—in response to the floods that struck northern and western Morocco—the Foundation’s teams have been tirelessly deployed to the affected areas, specifically in Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, and Larache. Key interventions included:
  • Geographic Coverage: Support reached five major villages (Al-Tarabna, Ould Amer, Baghlia, Sidi Ayach, and Ishraqa), as well as the cities of Sidi Kacem, Sidi Yahya, and Larache.
  • Aid Distribution: 300 food baskets, 1,800 hot meals, and over 1,000 blankets and mattresses were distributed.
  • Direct Support: In a specialized gesture for affected fishermen in Larache, 70 shopping vouchers worth 500 MAD each were provided.
  • Partnerships: Execution was carried out in collaboration with 7 local partner associations.
  • Total Reach: Over 4,000 beneficiaries.
The success of this campaign was driven by the generous donations of members, partners, and friends, as well as a successful digital fundraising campaign via the KIWI COLLECTE platform. The digital campaign secured 74% of its target budget within just one week from 300 digital donors—a strong indicator of the public’s trust in the Foundation’s transparency and credibility.  Mawasim Program: The Spirit of Ramadan Reaching High Altitudes  In parallel with emergency relief, the “Mawasim” program focused on reaching “Deep Morocco” to ensure the dignity of those fasting in remote areas:
  • Khenifra Highlands: Food baskets were secured for 3,000 families in isolated regions, including Ajdir, Jnan Amaras, Lehri, Talhant, and Ait Lahcen.
  • Al Haouz Province: 325 families in Imlil, Wizmarne, Al-Makiyat, and Amskin received comprehensive food aid and Eid sweets, reinforcing social cohesion in previously disaster-affected areas.
  • Ksar El Kebir: The program concluded with the distribution of 40 shopping vouchers for Eid clothing, valued at 400 MAD each.
Giving that Blooms in Ramadan and Lasts Year-Round  The “Sanad” and “Mawasim” programs embodied the deep-rooted values of Moroccan solidarity. Beyond material support, these initiatives aim to foster a spirit of synergy and stand by families during their most critical moments.  The Basma Foundation believes that true development is an ongoing process. These interventions are part of a comprehensive vision involving seven integrated programs. This strategic link ensures that beneficiary families transition from “consumption-based support” (through Mawasim and Sanad) to “financial independence” via other programs like Sanabel, which focuses on income-generating projects, and Inma, dedicated to rural development.  Through this approach, the Basma Foundation ensures that its developmental impact remains sustainable throughout the entire year.
