The Basma Foundation for Social Development celebrates the High Royal Instructions manifested in the special assistance and support program for families and populations affected by recent weather disturbances. With an estimated budget of 3 billion MAD, this initiative follows the exceptional climatic events witnessed by the Kingdom over the past two months, particularly in the Gharb and Loukkos plains.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, issued High Instructions to public authorities to implement a large-scale assistance program and take the necessary regulatory measures to address these circumstances.
These instructions were further solidified by the decision to declare these disturbances a “natural disaster status,” classifying the most affected communes in four provinces (Larache, Kenitra, Sidi Kacem, and Sidi Slimane) as disaster zones.
💰 Budget Allocation (3 Billion MAD)
The budget is dedicated to a program built upon the following primary pillars:
- Housing & Income Support (775 million MAD): Dedicated to rehousing assistance, compensation for loss of income, rehabilitation of damaged homes and small businesses, and the reconstruction of collapsed housing.
- Emergency Field Interventions (225 million MAD): Providing in-kind aid and meeting the immediate basic needs of the population.
- Agricultural Support (300 million MAD): Direct aid targeted at farmers and livestock breeders.
- Infrastructure Investment (1.7 billion MAD): Rehabilitation of road and hydro-agricultural infrastructure, as well as the restoration of essential utility networks.
