Basma organizes its first seminar for the “My Health in My Coverage” project

Within the framework of implementing the My Health in My Coverage project supervised by the Basma Foundation for Social Development in partnership with the Ministry of Health, which aims to raise awareness among self-employed people (taxi owners of classes “A” and “B”, street vendors, butterflies…) about the legal developments related to both the basic compulsory health insurance system and the pension system and ways to benefit from them, the Basma Foundation is organizing an introductory seminar entitled: Developments in health coverage for professionals, independent workers and non-salaried persons who practice a private activity, at the Basma Foundation complex on Wednesday, April 3, 2018. The seminar will be supervised by the Ministry of Employment and Professional Integration and the National Social Security Fund

 

Introductory paper on the My Health in My Coverage project

 

Believing in the importance of collaborative work in implementing public policies, and seeking to improve social conditions, raise awareness of the importance of health coverage and its benefits for the family and society, and motivate professionals, independent workers and non-salaried persons to register for health coverage, the Foundation is implementing the “My Health in My Coverage” project in partnership with the Ministry of Health.

 

Project objectives:

  • Raising awareness of the importance of health coverage and its benefits for the family and society
  • Motivating professionals, independent workers and non-salaried persons to register for health coverage
  • Informing about legal developments related to health coverage and the entry into force of Law No. 99.15 and Law No. 98.15 aiming to establish a pension system and a basic compulsory health insurance system for the benefit of professionals, independent workers and non-salaried persons who practice a private activity.


Motivations for implementing the project:

  • Lack of a culture of health coverage among self-employed persons
  • Lack of a culture of health coverage among self-employed persons
  • High cost of treatment among self-employed persons, especially when suffering from a chronic disease


Target group:

  • Taxi owners of both types A and B
  • Butterfly
  • Street vendors


Project outputs:

  • Distribution of 10,000 informational and awareness brochures on health coverage for professionals, self-employed workers and non-salaried persons who carry out a private activity
  • Organization of a communication tent in Bab Chellah 1
  • Organization of a communication tent in Bab El Ahad 2

Description of the scope of health intervention to implement the components of the proposed project:

The city of Rabat is characterized by a high density of professionals, independent workers and non-salaried persons such as taxi owners, street vendors or butterflies, whether Moroccans or foreigners, so the Rabat community, especially the Hassan district, will conduct awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging participation in health coverage.


Description of the human and material capabilities and energies available to the institution to implement the proposed project:

  • The institution has a permanent administrative staff that oversees the implementation of its strategic plan and development projects.
  • The institution operates on an annual budget.
  • The institution is managed by an administrative office distinguished by its diversity in areas of expertise related to project implementation and evaluation.
