In a significant stride towards sustainable development, the Basma Foundation for Social Development, in partnership with Human Appeal UK, is proud to announce the opening of a professional training center in the village of Amlil, Al Haouz province. Launched on July 1, 2025, this initiative is a cornerstone of our commitment to empowering the families affected by the devastating earthquake in September 2023.
Our Mission: Empowering Through Skills
The center is dedicated to providing specialized training in sewing and embroidery to women and girls in the region. Our goal is to equip them with the necessary skills to achieve financial independence and become active contributors to their community’s recovery and growth.
The facility provides a comprehensive and encouraging learning environment, featuring a modern training hall with state-of-the-art sewing machines and equipment. A resident supervisor ensures continuous guidance and support, and the center also includes full sanitary facilities.

A Solid Start: From Summer Intensive to Ongoing Program
The center has already seen a strong beginning. During the intensive summer session from July to September, 26 female trainees, including students, participated in the program. As of October 1, the center has transitioned to a permanent program with a dedicated group of 16 trainees from Amlil village.
This project is a testament to our ongoing partnership with Human Appeal UK, who provided the funding, while the Basma Foundation managed the on-the-ground implementation. This collaboration reflects a shared vision and a deep trust in the power of investing in human development as a key pillar for reconstruction.
Part of a Larger, Integrated Support System
This training center is an integral part of the Basma Foundation’s comprehensive “Sanad” program, designed to provide holistic and sustainable support to those affected by natural disasters. In Amlil, this initiative complements our previous projects, including:
- A residential village with prefabricated homes for families who lost their shelters.
- The installation of a solar energy system for the residential village, ensuring a dignified and sustainable living environment.
To date, the “Sanad” program has successfully reached over 29,897 beneficiaries through various projects, including the construction of residential villages and support for victims of floods and earthquakes in different regions.
Building a Sustainable Future
Through these initiatives, the Basma Foundation reaffirms its belief that true development begins with empowering individuals. The new training center in Amlil is more than just a place to learn a craft; it is an investment in the future of families, a beacon of hope, and a firm step toward strengthening rural communities to meet future challenges.
