Rabat – Friday, February 6, 2026
As part of its “Sanad” relief program, the Basma Foundation for Social Development has announced the launch of a major solidarity campaign under the slogan “Like One Body” (Kamathali al-Jasadi al-Wahid). The initiative aims to provide urgent support to families affected by the devastating floods that have swept through several regions of the Kingdom, particularly in the provinces of Larache and Sidi Kacem.
Immediately following the campaign’s launch, the Foundation initiated a comprehensive mobilization of its members, partners, administrative staff, and an extensive network of volunteers. Operations have officially begun to collect and package essential supplies, including:
- Basic food items and hot meals.
- Blankets and mattresses.
- Clothing and hygiene kits.
- Kitchen utensils and household essentials.
The Foundation’s Projects Department has established direct coordination with local NGOs in the stricken areas to ensure the precise and rapid delivery of aid. These efforts target both isolated villages (douars) trapped by floodwaters and reception centers housing displaced families.
A Critical Humanitarian Context
The “Like One Body” campaign comes amidst intense national efforts to mitigate the consequences of extraordinary weather disturbances that led to unprecedented flooding. According to official data from the Moroccan Ministry of Interior, authorities were forced to evacuate more than 143,000 people from the northwestern plains of the country.
Heavy rainfall caused a sharp rise in the levels of major rivers, such as the Sebou and Loukkos, necessitating the complete evacuation of the city of Ksar El Kebir. Residents were directed to safe shelters as authorities remain on high alert to manage the disaster’s impact on both agricultural lands and urban areas.
National Solidarity
This exceptional crisis has once again highlighted the authentic character of the Moroccan people and the high spirit of solidarity within civil society, which has moved swiftly to answer the call of duty. The Foundation emphasizes that overcoming this crisis requires the collective efforts of both institutions and individuals in a national epic of mutual support.
