Al Haouz, Morocco – As part of its social humanitarian program, the Basma Foundation for Social Development launched on Sunday, November 3, 2024, its new project to provide primary health care to the residents of the Agbar community in the Al Haouz province, who were affected by the earthquake that struck the region in September 2023. The opening of the health center was supervised by the President of the Basma Foundation, Mr. Mustafa Al-Farjani, the Director of the Foundation’s Office, Mr. Adel Tantan, and Mr. Abdelkrim Ait Mubarak, President of the Agbar Community Council.
The health center provides medical services to more than 4,600 residents of the community, including general medical consultations and examinations, specialized medical consultations for women, in addition to basic treatments and first aid. The program also includes organizing awareness and medical campaigns in various districts of the community with the aim of promoting health and preventive awareness.
The team supervising this project consists of 13 medical, administrative and technical cadres, who work to provide the necessary health services for five consecutive months. This initiative represents an urgent humanitarian response to address the health challenges facing the population, especially in light of the difficult geographical and climatic conditions that characterize the region.
In his speech during the opening, Mr. Mustafa Al-Farjani, President of the Basma Foundation, stressed the importance of this project in terms of the quality of services provided and the length of health coverage, which reaches five months. He expressed his thanks to the local authorities and the local community council, represented by its president, and the regional delegation of the Ministry of Health in the Al Haouz province, for their support and cooperation in implementing this health project.
It is noteworthy that this project was implemented with the support of a group of partners, most notably the Helping Hand for Development and Relief Organization, which funded the construction of the health center, and the International Federation of Health Care and Medical Services Organizations, which funded the equipment and management of this project. This project comes to confirm the commitment of the Basma Foundation for Social Development to provide support and care to the affected population in remote areas, and to enhance community solidarity in times of crisis
